Description
Purchase a reliable used Car/SUV for in-country mentors/coaches
Purpose
The purpose of the used Car/SUV is to provide an inexpensive and reliable mode of transportation for the first 18-24 months of in-country mentors/coaches (Al and Velma Corson)
Scope
This project is limited to the purchase of a reliabe used Car/SUV which should be purchased in Japan and shipped to Mozambique or purchased in Mozambique. The cost of such a vehicle is not to exceed $14000 USD. This does not include costs for tags, tax, title, import fees, etc. which may be incurred in the process of procuring such a vehicle.
Timeline
The first Safari Insight Mission mentor/coach will be arriving in Mozambique in March 2010. A reliable vehicle will be needed in the February/March 2010 timeframe to enable the mentor/coaches to carry out Safari Insight Mission business in a timely manner. Requirements
Because of the intended function, local road conditions, rugged terrain, and passenger needs, a list of requirements for this vehicle include the following:
- This vehicle may not cost more than $14,000 US
- Age should not exceed 15-18 years
- Mileage should not exceed 200,000Km (120,000 miles)
- Passenger capacity 5+
- Reliable and good maintenance track record
- Parts and maintenance must be available in country
- Must pass all JAAI/JEVIC and Intertek inspections
- Right Hand Drive (required in Mozambique)
- Diesel Power - this is the primary fuel type available in Mozamabique
- All-wheel, Full time 4-wheel, or 4-wheel drive with lockable hubs
- Air Conditioning - temperatures exceed 100 degrees during summer months
